South China Mall is the largest mall in the world.It is in Dongguan,It has leasable space for over 1,500 stores in approximately 6.5 million square feet (600,000 square metres) of total floor area.and ranked second in total area to the Dubai Mall.However, it is largely vacant. Unlike other "dead malls",This mall has seven zones modeled on international cities, nations and regions, including Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Venice, Egypt, the Caribbean, and California. Although the mall opened in 2005, it suffers from a lack of retailers. Much of the retail space remains empty, with 99.2 percent of the stores vacant. Many analysts say that the main reason the mall is so far largely unoccupied is that it is located in the suburbs of Dongguan, which means that it is only practical to travel there using a car. The mall is scheduled to close in July 2008.the New South China Mall, which opened in 2005, stands empty with 99 per cent of its shops having remained unleased and attractions including a 553-metre indoor and outdoor roller coaster standing idle.

South China Mall  is a new mall for shopping, entertainment, catering, business, working, furnishing, sports, and tourists in Dongguan. World Top 500 companies are in swarm there.The mall contains sufficient space for as many as 2,350 stores in approximately 659,612 square metres of leasable space and 892,000 square metres of total area.The mall has absorbed investment of more than CNY 2.5 billion. Starting in 2005, it has attracted KFC, Metro, B&Q, and Wanda International Cinemas to open branches there. Theaters and five-star hotels are expected to land in the area as well.

Since the construction of South China Mall was commenced on October of 2002, it has been actively responded by a large number of international traders and all walks of life. Some of world top 500 enterprises including German OBI, British Teletubbies, Canadian IMAX, Shenzhen Causeway Bay Department Store and OMOMO, have become its allies. In addition, German Metro, ranking the third position in global retail industry, has settled down adjacent to South China Mall in Wanjiang of Dongguan. On top of this, many international brand dealers have also come to South China Mall. Dongguan Branch of Agricultural Bank of China has given credit of RMB one billion yuan. Being highly hailed by experts, scholars, authoritative media and the society, as an international commercial empire, South China Mall has demonstrated its elegancy and glory, and is bound to be a miracle of commercial history.
